The Family Reunion by Glenn L. Starks is about Black life, it portrays all facets of the Black family whose lives mirrors the many problems and issues African >American families face in society today. The story centers on Charleen, the matriarch of the family. As she nears seventy, her last wish in life is for her family to get together again before she dies. She hopes that their family reunion will finally give her grown children a chance to put aside their differences and end years of fighting. Her daughters Charleen and Denise haven’t spoken years. Denise’s constant struggle to find a good man at the expense of her children’s happiness has separated her from the rest of the family. Her jealousy over Charleen’s stable family and business success has added to her bitterness and unwillingness to be around her family. Nothing could have prepared any of them for the turns all of their lives would take because of the family reunion… Author’s bio: Glenn L. Starks was born and raised in rural Brunswick County, Virginia. At an early age he realized his passion for writing poetry and fiction. He also realized a passion for education and business, eventually earning a Masters in Business and a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration. He has written various published works of fiction and non-fiction. Growing up in a tight knit family circle taught him the love of family, and value of respect and sharing. These lessons are exemplified in his writings.
